A message to students and
parents...
Hello! My name is Bonnie Cavanaugh Pechulis. I have been teaching
Spanish in Baltimore County, Maryland for 18 years, first at Middle River
Middle School and then at Parkville Middle School and Center of Technology.
I teach seventh and eighth grade beginning Spanish. My first exposure
to foreign languages began with French at Holabird Middle School, continuing
at Dundalk High School, where I added Spanish to my studies. I continued
with Spanish as a major at Towson University,
receiving both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Secondary Education.
I also studied for one summer in Mexico City and traveled extensively throughout
the country during subsequent visits.
I currently live in the Towson area of Baltimore County with my husband
and two children and an assortment of pets. My son is a sophomore
in high school and my daughter is a junior in college. In addition
to reading, gardening and navigating the web, I love to travel. I
have accompanied a school group to central Spain and have visited many
regions in the United States where Spanish is spoken, including California,
Texas, Nevada, and New Mexico. I hope to return to Mexico in the
summer of 2000, when the Spanish department at Parkville Middle will be
conducting a tour of Mexico City and Yucatan.
My goal for the 1999-2000 school year is to incorporate computer technology
into my lessons. I hope that you find my web site useful as a starting
point for your research of the Spanish-speaking world on the Internet both
in and outside of class. I will continue to update it as the year
progresses.
Finally, as your eighth grade team leader, please email
me if you have any suggestions, concerns or questions. Your eighth
grade teachers are committed to providing you with a challenging academic
program and to help make the transition to high school as successful as
possible. We want
this year to be your best one yet at Parkville!
